SERVICE 05

Electrical, Power & Grounding

Communications equipment depends on a coordinated connection between site power, grounding, cabinets, and the structure. Above Wireless scopes grounding and related construction alongside tower and civil work, with regulated electrical work assigned to appropriately licensed electrical subcontractors.

Scope built around the site.

Grounding and bonding, equipment infrastructure, and coordinated power work with licensed electrical scope assigned before mobilization.

  • Grounding electrode system installation to approved details
  • Tower, mount, cabinet, and equipment bonding
  • Grounding conductors, connection points, and protected routing
  • Surge-protection installation interfaces and coordination
  • Cabinet, shelter, and equipment-pad construction interfaces
  • Utility service planning and coordination
  • AC and DC distribution, disconnects, and connections through licensed electrical subcontractors
  • Backup-power interfaces and generator infrastructure coordination

Work packages can address tower bases, exterior cabinets, equipment pads, shelters, and ground-ring interfaces. Existing power conditions, utility requirements, approved drawings, and jurisdiction determine the division of work.

How the work comes together

Define. Coordinate. Document.

01

Assign each trade

Review grounding details and the requested power scope. Confirm the electrical subcontractor's responsibilities, required qualifications, utility interfaces, and any planned outage.

02

Coordinate installation

Sequence grounding and buried work with foundations and trenching. Keep electrical terminations, energization, and other regulated work within the assigned licensed scope.

03

Review the records

Document accessible connections and concealed work before cover. Coordinate specified inspections and testing with the responsible provider and collect agreed closeout records.

Safety & quality

Clear requirements.
Useful field records.

  • Check conductor routing and connection details against the approved design.
  • Record grounding work before backfill or concealment.
  • Review bonding interfaces between tower, equipment, and site infrastructure.
  • Confirm electrical isolation and energization responsibilities before work.

Project responsibilities

Electrical design, AC or DC electrical installation requiring licensure, service connections, and energization are separately scoped to appropriately licensed professionals. Generator startup, controls, and specialist testing require confirmed providers. Above Wireless does not represent blanket electrical contractor licensure across project locations.
