SERVICE 03

Fiber Construction & Outside Plant

Above Wireless can combine tower construction with the underground civil work needed to bring a communications pathway to the site. The package starts with the route, existing utilities, crossing requirements, and restoration limits, then assigns each trade before excavation begins. Our field records include optical power-meter testing.

Scope built around the site.

Trenching, conduit, handholes, and communications-site fiber pathways, with specialty placement and fiber work scoped to qualified providers.

  • Excavation and open trenching for communications pathways
  • Conduit, duct routing, and underground pathway installation
  • Handholes and pathway entry points
  • Utility-crossing and underground-protection coordination
  • Private locating and ground-penetrating-radar coordination
  • Communications-site fiber connection and backhaul pathway support
  • Backfill, surface repair, and agreed site restoration
  • Fiber placement, subject to method and provider confirmation
  • Directional drilling and plowing through separately scoped qualified partners
  • Splicing, termination, and specialist testing through separately scoped qualified providers

Typical interfaces include tower compounds, equipment pads, cabinets, handholes, and building entries. Open excavation and specialty installation methods are evaluated against utility conflicts, access, surface conditions, and the approved route.

How the work comes together

Define. Coordinate. Document.

01

Validate the route

Review drawings, locate requirements, known utilities, crossing permissions, and restoration expectations. Assign specialty methods and fiber work to confirmed qualified providers.

02

Build the pathway

Sequence excavation and conduit work with site access and tower activities. Report obstructions or route changes before concealing work that requires review.

03

Document the handoff

Record agreed pathway details and restoration status. Coordinate the handoff to the party responsible for fiber placement, splicing, and acceptance testing.

Safety & quality

Clear requirements.
Useful field records.

  • Confirm required utility locating and excavation controls.
  • Check conduit, handhole, and entry details against the approved scope.
  • Document concealed work at agreed inspection points.
  • Review backfill and surface restoration before closeout.
Our field approach

Project responsibilities

Directional drilling, plowing, splicing, termination, and specialist testing require a separately scoped qualified provider. The proposal identifies who performs each task and the required test method, acceptance criteria, and report format. Optical power-meter testing does not replace other testing required by the customer or network design.
